Costs For Participating in the Green Key Programme
Costs for Green Key certification in Australia are dependent on the type of venue. Our simple pricing table below allows any venue to understand how much their investment will be in the programme, and what is included.
| Annual Certification Fee | On-site Audit Fees (estimate) | Off-site Audit Fees (estimate) | |
| Hotels, Conference Centres, Attractions, Holiday Parks | $1,950 plus GST | $1,500 plus GST | $450 plus GST |
| Restaurants, hostels, small accommodations, campsites | $1,500 plus GST | $1,300 plus GST | $450 plus GST |
The audits for Green Key certification are conducted by an independent third-party auditor. The exact cost will depend on the complexity and length of the audit. The estimated audit costs exclude travel and accommodation for the auditor (if required). Off-site audits occur in years where an on-site audit is not required.
The travel costs in connection with on-site audits will depend on the location of the venue and length of the audit and will generally include airfares (economy class), accommodation, a reasonable meals per diem and transport costs to and from the venue. If accommodation is needed, the applicant venue may choose to offer complimentary accommodation at their venue, if this is possible. Australian Sustainable Destinations Alliance will always ensure it has received approval from the applicant venue before incurring any travel costs.
The Annual Certification Fee includes support from Australian Sustainable Destinations Alliance to complete the process, promotion of the venue in our social media, websites, newsletter and on the Green Key global venues map, and inclusion on our online accommodation partner websites. A free plaque for display at the venue (sent after the first certification) and a certificate (sent annually) are also included. Green Key flags are available for $55 plus delivery and additional Green Key plaques for $199 plus delivery.
The invoice for the Year One Annual Certification Fee is issued upon entering into the Green Key Certification Agreement with us at the completion of the pre-application process. This fee covers the application process and Year One of Certification and is payable regardless of the length of time taken to complete the Application Process and whether the Application Process is successful or unsuccessful.
The invoice for the Annual Certification Fee for each year after Year One is issued two months prior to the end of the current certification year, being the point at which preparations for recertification and the annual audit commence
Australian Sustainable Destinations Alliance operates on 30-day payment terms, with the exception of the estimated audit fees, which are payable prior to the audit, along with any additional audit fees and costs, including travel costs, which are payable prior to the audit report being issued.
