How to Apply for Green Key Certification

We make applying for Green Key certification very simple and we support the venue every step of the way. Our process is:

1. Complete the simple pre-application form.
2. Australian Sustainable Destinations Appliance will engage with the venue to explain the certification process, with the invoice for the Application Process, which includes Year One of Certification, being payable at this time.
3. The venue completes full application, with Australian Sustainable Destinations Alliance mentoring the venue through the process until completion, providing advice as necessary.
4. Once application is completed Australian Sustainable Destinations Alliance organises an independent audit. The invoice for the independent audit will be payable prior to the audit.
5. Independent auditor provides the completed audit report. If remedies are required, Australian Sustainable Destinations Alliance will coordinate this with the venue and reengage with independent auditor until the process is successfully completed.
6. Once audit is successful the venue will be certified and will receive their plaque and associated certification documentation.
7. In subsequent years, Australian Sustainable Destinations Alliance will engage with the venue at least two months prior to the next certification period, mentoring the venue through the next phase, including clear direction on imperative and guideline criteria and the audit process.
